LOTR universe is always surprising and interesting. When i found The Hobbit book for sale (only for 1 Dollar!) i can feel it will be the best thing of the end of the year 2011. But then the trailer for the movie came up not for long after i finished reading, i feel my life is blessed!
Here for you to know, i don't really into sci-fi or fantasy. If i read novels or manga, i prefer what is closer to reality genre than fantasy. Because i can't really stand it and cannot relate to it, okay, I'm not that imaginative person! But that doesn't mean i'm not open to it.
The Lord of The Rings by J.R.R Tolkien is the best fantasy read to me. I can't compare it to any other fantasy book genre. The movies are also awesome, some people are snobby, they dislike movies and irritated about how Peter Jackson adapted it into big screen. But I'm open with his vision, since he is also a hard fan of LOTR saga. He got lots of awards which he deserved. I don't know what it will be like if any other person like Bryan Singer or Davit Yates work as the director. Only PJ can does that and... he is excited to direct the prequel of it. The Hobbit movie.
As you (may) know The Hobbit movie will be released next December. I'm not gonna tell you how suffered I am to wait. Millions of people out there feel the same, they can't wait to return to Middle Earth again. Plus, to meet another beloved and crucial character; Bilbo Baggins. Nah, here i have to tell you how much i love Bilbo! He is my favorite hobbit! Knowing that my favorite actor (Martin Freeman) will take his role is just so enthralling!
I read The Hobbit novel and when i open some website about people's comments about The Hobbit, most of them (as far as I know), say they can't really relate to Bilbo at all, compared to Harry Potter.
It's nonsense actually!
Of course they can say that, they don't wanna feel about the novel deeply! Harry Potter is character out of some opera soap on TV, a long-suffering teenager boy and have to deal with enormous issues, with some friends help him. To be honest, it's a bit cliche! Bilbo is more real. He's maybe like most of us, who is live in comfortable zone and keep his desire for adventure deep inside. He's not a hero, he's just an ordinary funny little hobbit who loves tea and cookies. Until Gandalf come up in front of him and offer an adventure. Bilbo actually doesn't need to step out of his door, helping strangers and killing monsters, no! He can sit on his sofa and waiting for the next day to come, and the world will just be OK. Smaug will always below the Lonely Mountains and Dwarves can go on live without their jewels. But Bilbo has decided to leave his comfortable zone and start off an adventure and change his life forever.
It's not cliche, it's real. I can see most of us can be like Bilbo.
Not including how great J.R.R Tolkien is, for God's sake! The world he created far more amazing and richer. Harry Potter (I like to compare these two since they have a LOT of similarities) world is our modern world with witchcraft sausage on it. Quidditch game? The Daily Prophet newspaper? That magic-moving-chess-pawns? Nah, that's what i call a lazy imagination.
Characters more related to you? Of course they are, they're just like people from that teens TV soap drama!
At this point, you can see how I despise HP saga. I read all of the books (but haven't watch all of the movies because I don't need to) and I have right to say LOTR and The Hobbit are by miles greater than Harry Potter. The movies also same. LOTR movies have a lot of great moments and more charming soundtrack. You have a quality time to watch the movies and try to take the life-lessons out of it.
But Harry Potter compared to Twilight, well you know my answer.
